JBP Conducts Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Technology Introduction Seminar as Part of UNDP Kazakhstan's Study Tour for Disaster Management Officials Visiting Japan from Kazakhstan

On March 1, 2023, as part of a study tour for DRR officials from Kazakhstan, organized by UNDP Kazakhstan, JBP member companies conducted a seminar to introduce DRR technologies. The seminar was attended by government and university representatives from Kazakhstan who were visiting Japan.

This study tour was planned as part of the UNDP-Japanese Supplementary Budget (JSB) Project "Using Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to Achieve Net Zero Emissions and Climate Resilient Development in Response to a Climate Emergency in Kazakhstan" funded by the Japanese government, specifically focusing on drought mitigation in the agriculture sector.

The participants included government officials, university staff, and UNDP representatives from the following entities:

  •  Ministry of ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  •  Ministry of emergency of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  •  Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  •  “KazHydroMet” – Hydrometeorological agency of Kazakhstan
  •  Kazakh state national university named after al Farabi (al Farabi University)
  •  UNDP Kazakhstan


3 JBP member companies provided introductions to various DRR technologies:
 

 

 

The seminar provided an opportunity for lively discussions and included questions from the participants regarding drought mitigation, which was the main theme of the study tour. Various DRR technologies suitable for implementation in Kazakhstan were explored and discussed during the seminar.
