3 JBP member companies and JBP secretariat attended Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction held at Ulaanbaatar

Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2018 held at Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia between 3rd and 6th July.

AMCDRR held every two years is the Asia regional conference to promote Sendai Framework for DRR and this was the 2nd conference following AMCDRR 2016 held at Delhi in India after the 3rd World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction held at Sendai in 2015.

The three-day Conference attracted 3,500 people to the Mongolian capital from over 1,500 organizations including representatives from more than 50 countries.

The Ulaanbaatar Declaration was adopted, and a two-year Action Plan agreed, to accelerate implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia. 

50 number of booths and an ignite stage were installed at the Sükhbaatar Square in front of the Parliament House, which corresponds to the Imperial palace square in Japan. JBP and Challenge Co., Ltd, JBP member, respectively operated a booth for exhibition.
Many VIP people from Asia region visited exhibition booths and also President of Disaster and Emergency Management of Turkey (AFAD) who had meeting with JBP in Tokyo in April this year coincidentally visited the JBP booth. In addition, as we could meet many people whom we met in Cancun Mexico last year, this reunion deepened their understanding of JBP and tightened our relationship. 
At the ignite stage a participant did 15 minutes presentation by turn from 9am to 5 pm for 2 days. JBP presented audiences how JBP and member companies contributed for implementation of Sendai Framework with the title of “Investment before disaster will save your communities and economy”.
Among JBP members, Dr, Satoru Nishikawa, Advisor to JBP, JICA, Challenge Co., Ltd. and Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd. performed the presentation at the ignite stage.
As a result of AMCDRR, the Ulaanbaatar Declaration was adopted, and a two-year Action Plan agreed, to accelerate implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia. 


 

After over AMCDRR, a mini Naadam festival which was a digest version of Naadam Festival, a traditional festival in Mongolia, was organized to treat participants by the Mongolian government. At the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar, traditional music, dance, horse race by children and Mongolian wrestling were performed.
